Sewall, Samuel
(28 mar. 1652, Bishopstoke, Hampshire, Inglaterra–1 ene. 1730, Boston, Mass.).

Comerciante y jurista colonial angloamericano. Inmigró a América del Norte cuando niño y llegó a ser administrador de una imprenta colonial de Nueva Inglaterra y miembro del consejo del gobernador (1684–1725). En 1692 fue elegido para presidir los juicios a las brujas de Salem, en los cuales 19 personas fueron ejecutadas. Más tarde, reconociendo el error en la decisión del tribunal, de pie y en silencio en la Iglesia Old South Church, de Boston, en 1967 escuchó la lectura en alta voz de su confesión de error y culpa. Su Diary [Diario] en tres tomos (publicado en 1878–82) ofrece una visión de la vida de los puritanos en Nueva Inglaterra.
